Logo prettiness

I really love this new trend of simple yet pretty logos. They are light, fresh and it´s just good to look at them. 😉

When I see a good, catchy logo on a business card, on a website or as a watermark on a photo, I straight away check the company´s site, Instagram, etc. So, let´s just say, the whole idea of this little piece of graphic totally works on me! The fact that the company took the effort to create something nice to represent their work gives me a good impression of the business. Of course everyone has his/her own style and taste. I guess the most important is to create something that you´re proud to use and something that resonates with your main audience.

I also have a thing for beautiful calligraphy logos. I love them because they are imperfect. There is something unique in those little flexes and lumps that automatically “happen” when writing with pointed-pen. Fair enough, these imperfections can be easily corrected digitally and the end result would be close to a font picked from an online library. Here again, it is the matter of style and taste.

When I make a new design, I always try to use the best material to begin with: good quality paper, good nibs, deep and rich colored ink. Also, it takes some time to warm-up and let your hand draw the lines light and easy (for me it definitely does not happen in the early morning before breakfast 🙂 ). But there is no such thing as 100% perfect calligraphy. There are always little flexes, but it´s part of the handmade-charm. And that is what makes every single calligraphy unique.  🙂

Here is one of my latest logo-projects made for Rita Miklán Photography. Rita is a talented and super-fun photographer living in Helsinki. She decided to refresh a little bit her company´s look, so she asked me to make something nice, simple, yet elegant. The only thing she specifically requested is the teal green color to her design. I am so-so glad that this little new flip to her brand made her very happy and excited! Go and check her website, Instagram and Facebook-page, she has some really amazing work to show! 🙂
